Dear Mary Studio is a jewelry & accessories brand based in Southern California. They create handmade, whimsical, colorful, and lightweight clay earrings and accessories. The inspiration for Dear Mary Studio comes from the vibrant and magical art style of Mary Blair, a legendary artist and animator. The branding for Dear Mary Studio is bright, joyful, and feminine. It reflects the organic but intricate jewelry they create, with a retro but modern aesthetic.
THE STORY BEHIND THE BRAND
The original name of the business was Schaeffer Clay Maker, but Erica, the owner, wanted a new name that didn’t use her last name. She landed on Dear Mary Studio as an ode to Mary Blair, an artist and animator at Disney who is known for her vibrant and whimsical art style.
NOTES FROM LIBBY
We wanted the new branding to reflect the styles and colors of Erica’s work, so I used some of her earrings shapes to create brand marks and elements. I created a vibrant color palette with lots of contrast to help her stand out as a brand.
