Slow Season
taking a vitamin D break
Since I started With Love, Libby at the end of 2020, I feel like I’ve been busy nonstop. It started with candlemaking: thrifting glassware, prepping for events, packing and shipping orders, and making candles, of course. In 2023, things shifted to be more design-focused: working with brand clients, making websites, brand shoots, content creation, the list goes on.
I spent almost five years being so overwhelmingly occupied with my business and my clients, that I have a hard time knowing what to do when I’m going through a slow season, which is what’s happening at the moment.
my mood lately
I have been fairly caught up on design work as of late, and I feel like I’ve been able to breathe and actually relax. However, if you’re a business owner, or an ambitious person in general, you know that a period of stillness makes that voice in your head go, “Should I be doing more? Am I forgetting something?” It’s sososo silly.
Because of this slower time in my business, I’ve been able to focus on my health a bit more. I go on more bike rides, I started going to physical therapy again, and I sleep in a little longer and take more breaks throughout the day. As my Friedreich’s Ataxia symptoms progress, having the ability to take things a little slower becomes increasingly essential. I hope to keep working and serving clients for as long as I can.
I’ve also been taking advantage of this season to do a long overdue brand refresh for WLL, which you may have noticed already! I’ve been tweaking the website and socials, next up is a brand photoshoot later this year (eeek!). It’s been so nice to really rethink the branding I created back in 2020, before I fully knew where this path would take me.
getting plenty of miles in on my trike!
I guess I’m wanting to say that I’m learning it’s totally normal to have ebbs and flows when it comes to running a business and life in general. It’s allowed me to take a step back and re-evaluate the future of my business. I’ve been starting to feel more inspired by the every day and create completely new ideas and concepts.
